Walnut Hill Bible Church in Baraboo invites the public to attend its annual Celebration Sunday, taking place on Sunday, Sept. 2. The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. with an outdoor worship service on the church grounds, located at 1900 East St. A free picnic lunch and outdoor games for everyone will follow. Limited outdoor seating will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs if possible.
This year’s Celebration Sunday service will have a special focus, as the church marks the beginning of an important pastoral transition. Pastor Dan Gunderson, who has been on staff at WHBC since 2000 as the youth pastor and later as the associate pastor, will step into the role of senior pastor with the blessing of the congregation and current Senior Pastor David Hutchens. Pastor Hutchens, after 29 years of successfully shepherding the spiritual growth of WHBC, will take on the role of associate pastor.
The worship service will take place under the shade trees on the south lawn. Shade tents and seating will also be provided for lunch. Grilled brats, hot dogs and other picnic favorites will be served. After the meal, the outdoor games will begin, with something for every age group. Kids 18 and under may want to dress to get wet. All are welcome to celebrate with WHBC on this special day.
