Marriage Matters

Marriage Ministry

Welcome to Marriage Matters!

Welcome to Marriage Matters! This is Walnut Hill’s marriage ministry serving its members as well as nonmembers in and around the community. We are Nathan & Kristin Considine, and we are excited to share what we are doing!

Marriage Matters has a goal of glorifying God through Biblical marriage. Throughout the year, we focus on mentoring, equipping, praying, and investing time in marriages. Additionally, we aimed to create awareness and engage individuals in thinking about marriage by providing fun activities and new ways to invest in their marital relationships and what oneness in the eyes of God means.

Here are some of our activities:

A smiling man and woman stand together in front of a large orange banner that reads 're|engage' for Sanctuary church, framed by a large golden arch.

re | engage

Re|engage is discipleship-based enrichment for every marriage – the healthy, the struggling, and the broken. This ministry draws married couples to the church, giving them a safe place to move toward oneness through small groups, teaching, and stories of hope.

A three-panel informational brochure for a marriage program called Re|engage, detailing its goals for enriching and restoring marriages through group sessions.
A large group of smiling cyclists wearing helmets pose with their bicycles in a paved lot at a park trailhead before setting out on a ride.
A large group of people stand together for a photo in front of the white, domed Wisconsin State Capitol building on a sunny day.

Marriage Bike Ride

Another fun event for married couples is our annual bike ride! We meet at McDaniel Park in McFarland ride our bikes to the Dane County Farmers’ Market and back on a beautiful paved bike trail (15 miles total). We explore the sights, sounds, smells and views around the market and get to visit our State Capitol. After we return to McDaniel Park, we have some encouraging fellowship and a picnic lunch.

Bunco Party

Bunco is a fun dice game focused on fellowship and enjoyment. This fun date night creates an atmosphere of laughter and meaningful conversations and is held in Walnut Hill’s fellowship hall. Game playing and having fun together are healthy aspects of a great marriage and this event puts that altogether for you!

The Tables of 6 (T6)

The Tables of 6 (T6)

The Tables of 6 (T6) events provide couples with an opportunity for intimate fellowship. Three couples have a simple meal at a host couples’ homes. Fostering connections and fellowship are the main goals. Get to know some other married couples at church in a meaningful way!

Marriage Conferences

Although not a ministry of Marriage Matters, is event is highlighted and attendance is encouraged. No marriage is static. Each day, each choice — you’re either moving closer together, toward oneness … or drifting farther apart. At the intersection of a faith-based marriage conference and romantic retreat from everyday life, Weekend to Remember helps couples do just that — choose oneness. Whether you’re sending up an SOS for marital rescue or looking to foster an already flourishing connection, Weekend to Remember is your best next step toward being, and staying, one.
